Well it's been far too long since I've made an entry here, so here's a quick update. The last few weeks have been busy, unlike most of the past year. I've been back in England for almost a year now, and as soon as I returned I started university. I have just completed my first year of Computer Science, and will be returning for the second year in late September, so long as my grades are good enough (which I'm pretty confident about). Course wise, the year has been ok, a little on the boring side, but I'm really looking forward to the modules next year, which will see the course really begin to amp up. First year is just about getting everyone to a certain standard, before the juicy stuff begins. It'll be much harder, and I'll have to put in far more work, but it should also be way more interesting.

The last day of the uni year saw me turn 21, it's quite scary how time is flying now, and I'm sure I was hanging around here when I was 15(!) - insane testament to the standing power of blogotomy. I started working 2 days after I got back to Birmingham, and have been working full time ever since - it's going very well, I can't be bothered to explain what I'm doing, but it's a good mix of programming and business.

I've decided that my fitness levels are woeful for a 21 year old, so I've started cycling to work and back every day, thats about 5 miles per day up and down hills, 5-6 days a week. It's a start, and I'm already finding it easier than when I first started. I don't get home covered in buckets of sweat anymore. That alone isn't enough though - that's good enough for the cardio, but I'm also going to be joining a gym with my brother in the coming week or so (when I get paid) and will be doing some weight work there. Finally, I'm going to give up smoking, hopefully on the 1st July, in line with the indoor smoking ban that's coming into effect in England on that date. I've tried a number of times before, and failed, but this time I really am serious about it. I've always said "I'm going to give up soon" too, my friends hate hearing it, so it's about time I acted on it.

It's been good catching up with my friends and family who live down here, and I've become far more productive than ever I was at university this year - I guess working full time puts you into a routine, unlike the student life. I go to bed at a reasonable time, and actually get stuff done now. It's a welcome change, because I was really starting to struggle with the amount of fuck all I was doing as a student. It's nice to have a rest here and there, but doing nothing all day every day isn't good for anyone.

In other slightly bad news, it's been a bad week for my family - my Dad got pushed to the floor in an argument with a drunk beefy looking motorcyclist when I was with him, I almost called the police. The guy was wearing a helmet and was huge, if he has decided to start laying into us there really wouldn't have been much we could do about it. Luckily, my Dad managed to defuse the situation, but it left me feeling so shit; seeing my Dad get attacked like that and being so utterly unable to do anything about it. It really hit me. Then, a couple of nights ago, my brother and his friend got robbed at knife point on their way home from a night out. This country disgusts me, and there are yet another two reasons on my ever growing list of "why I will be leaving this country after university."

You've got a place on my team anytime. It goes without saying that we'll keep in touch. When are you getting a gmail account? Adium keeps messing up for me so I'm left without an MSN client.

I've had a gmail account for years ;) What's your current email address? I'd rather not spam mine all over the place if possible. My MSN address is no longer a valid email address and hasn't been for years. We'll have to catch up soon...
