Flash Layering

Sat Jul 5th 13:11:07 2008

I've just come across a problem which may cause me a headache. I try and avoid Flash usually, so I'm not too versed with this kind of thing.

Basically, I have a Flash object immediately below a horizontal DHTML menu. The menu drops down behind the Flash object, whereas I need it to drop in front. After some brief research, it appears that z-index fiddling wont be of much help, and I tried changing wmode to transparent, but to no avail. Does anyone know of a work around for this, or can point me in the right direction?

If it makes things any clearer, I can provide a screen shot if required to illustrate what it is I'm talking about.

Update: Fixed it by updating the DHTML and adding the transparency mode to the parameters and embed tags for wmode. It appears that the Linux implementation of Flash can't support this - X is good to go, but Adobe have yet to fix this bug in Flash for Linux. It works with Windows. I have no idea about OSX.
