I'm in the process of creating a personal website using Rails. I'm still pretty new to it, but it's really nice to work with. Turns out it's just about as easy as Zope. I'll post a link when it's up. I've gotta switch hosts. I'd bought some "bargain hosting service" which is really just a euphemism for garbage and horrible customer service.
GrokThis offers a decent package for only $5 more than I'm paying right now and has a choice of webservers to use. Even better, if you don't like the webservers they offer, you can install one of your own. I think I'll give them a shot. I'll just have to downgrade my hosting package with my current service to domain names only.
Not much else to report. I'll write more as things happen.

Rails, for me, has been an enlightening experience. "Agile Web Development using Rails" has been an entertaining read as well. So GrokThis allowed you to setup Rails or do they set it up for you?

I haven't opened the account yet, but it looks pretty inviting.
Here is the exact wording from their page: "Every Advanced account comes with its own webserver process which users can control and modify. Both Apache 1.3 and 2 are available, as well as Mono XSP, Spyce, and Zope servers. Other webservers may be installed and used by clients if desired."
And I've ordered Agile Development Using Rails from, unfortunately I didn't see that it won't ship until September. I've been thinking about getting the PDF from the Pragmatic Programmer's site to hold me over 'til the book gets in, because I want to learn as much as I can as soon as possible, but I prefer having a tangible book in my hands.

Getting the PDF was well worth it for me. I bought the 'combo' pack so I'll get the book too. It puts it all together and lets you see the full picture (full application) instead of snippets of functionality you get from the online videos and tutorials.
