    Poker: you can't afford

    Thu Aug 23rd 08:43:46 2007 *

obv this is the best call in poker history. 4 clubs on the board, I don't have one. After calling me on a dangerous board he insta-pushes all-in on the river, now any club beats me along with any two pair, set or straight, a lot of bluffs beat me here too. His insta-push on the river when the 4th club hits doesn't seem right, I felt like he was weak throughout the hand, if he had a weak club he'd want to check it down, if he had a strong club he'd want me to call, so why scare me off with such a big bet?
I then proceed to make the best call in the history of the world and obv I win the pot.

Full Tilt No-Limit Hold'em, $2 BB (5 handed) Hand History Converter Tool from FlopTurnRiver.com (Format: HTML)
    SB ($33)
    BB ($262.80)
    UTG ($89.80)
    rel ($270.40)
    Button ($179.80)
Preflop: rel is rel(MP) with Ks, Kd.

UTG calls $2, rel raises to $8, 3 folds, UTG calls $6.
    Flop: ($19) Qc, 7c, 5s (2 players)

UTG bets $2, rel raises to $14, UTG calls $12.
    Turn: ($47) Tc (2 players)

    UTG bets $2
rel has 15 seconds left to act
    rel calls $2.
    River: ($51) Jc (2 players)

UTG bets $36, and is capped
rel has 15 seconds left to act
    rel has requested TIME
rel calls $36, and is capped
    *** SHOW DOWN ***
UTG shows [6d 7d] a pair of Sevens
rel shows [Ks Kd] a pair of Kings
rel wins the pot ($120) with a pair of Kings

1 hand later he's asking me how the hell could I call that when I pick up KK again, he limps I raise flop comes AQJ with 2 hearts, he insta-pushes again clearly tilting hard and I insta-call here with second pair.

obv I am the 2nd coming. bow down, biatch!

    Poker: Warms your heart

    Sat Mar 3rd 03:31:12 2007 *

After Barry Greenstein said "LOL DONKAMENTS" (funny poker term on teh internets) on High Stakes Poker (http://youtube.com/watch?v=bi4cwt8SeXM) there has been a drive by the poker community to donate to his charity. In 6 days >$33k has been donated, and the charity is sorting out some press coverage.

Be good to see what Bill Frist thinks of this, seeing as he painted Online Poker as being nothing more than a money-laundering service for organised crime and effectively got it banned in the US.

Aus: and I'm on to the next one

    Fri Sep 22nd 20:14:55 2006 *

Been home for a few weeks now.

I did end up going to Sydney. Was incredible weather there and was the perfect spot to end the trip. Walked around the Opera House, walked over the Harbour Bridge, finishing up blastin` to Back in Black as the sun went down on Bondi Beach.

Went to see The Rocks, one of the original settlements after the formation of the colony.
I walked past it about 5 times, looking for something old, until it dawned on me, for aussies, this IS old. Wow, :gethistory.

Having said that from The Rocks at night there was an incredibly view of the Harbour Bridge and from another angle the Opera House at night. While the place itself isn't worth bothering for, the sites around it were.

Sydney is a great city, but Melbourne was by far my favourite. I'd really like to maybe go live there for a year at some stage post-university and just play poker for a living.

On my last day I left Sydney and flew back to Perth. Spent about 3 hours back in the hostel where it all started with Crisp and got to see a few familiar faces again. While Melbourne was my favourite city, Perth is where it was.

A quick visit later and I was back at the airport, only this time the International and caught my flight to Singapore.

While packing everything up in Sydney I noticed a strong smell of weed comming from my bag, and following that was some rather nervous moments boarding the flights. I never found the source, I ended up washing all my clothes just hours before the flight, and as any backpacker will tell you, aussie driers are fucked. They simply don't dry anything, so that added about 5kg of weight.

Not a good idea to fly into Singapore, a country that somewhat routinely executes people found with traces of weed on them. Just a couple weeks before they executed an aussie.

Over about a 36hour period of travel back home I travelled over 17,000 miles. I probably travelled another 5,000 miles just walking around Singapore Airport. Holy crap, the size of the thing.

Onwards and upwards, I'm off to university this Sunday. At a mere 300 miles away, I have a somewhat deluded belief that I could walk it in 36 minutes.

    In the News: Threat Level

    Mon Aug 14th 00:57:08 2006 *

Apparently, Great Britain has lowered its security threat level from 'critical' to 'severe'.

    Oh, Goodie.

First thing I thought was 'we have a security-threat indicator?' I've never heard it mentioned before. Didn't think the country was shit enough to need such a thing.

$10 says that, like Blairs' popularity, the security threat will forever bounce between 'severe' and 'critical'.

    Aus: Melbourne

    Sat Aug 12th 18:43:33 2006 *

Been in Melbourne a couple weeks now. Probably my favourite Aussie city so far.
It's been over 3 months since I left in search of something new. Definately feel like a reset button has been pushed. Starting to have a real craving for life back home now.

Thinking of sticking around for a bit longer and then heading off to Sydney. Then possibly home.
