Well, it's all finally over. I did wonder if this time would ever come but here it is, and it feels great. In hindsight my exams seemed to go well in general with inevitably some better than others, but I would be hard pressed to predict what I actually got especially as a lot will depend on how the whole year group performed as the grade boundaries will be moved to get grade proportions correct. Crucially though I'm going to need at least two As and one B in order to actually go to University. Anyway to celebrate finished all my exams I went and bought a load of stuff which means I've now got an even bigger pile of books to read and films to watch. I haven't actually gone out yet as such because most of my friends are still doing exams, so we're all going out this coming Friday which doesn't bode well considering I've got an athletics competition the following day :p
In some respects though it seemed a bit of an anti-climax, a strange feeling in that I didn't really have anything to aim for. Throughout the exam period I sort of relished the pressure of actually having to do some proper revision for the exams I had and now I don't really seem to have any purpose except to bum around! Strange line of thought I know, but maybe it's just because I'm so tired :)
Among the things I've got planned to do this summer is an 'end-of-college' formal ball thing. I was a bit reluctant to go at first as I'm not a huge fan of formal dos but my mates persuaded me, and I guess it'll be a laugh. It's going to be a shame leaving college behind, as I've quite enjoyed my time and there and made some good friends. I feel like I've grown up a lot and matured especially in this last year that I've been there. I had a considerable amount of work to do and I've really had to work hard for long periods of time, which isn't something I've been particularly used to before, and also improve my time management and making sure I got my priorities right. Next year is likely to be just as hard though, but at least the terms are significantly shorter and crucially I'll be concentrating solely on my favourite subject rather than trying to balance four different subjects. It's going to be amazing.
I'm also going to get a Laptop sometime this summer and maybe a PDA also. The laptop is primarily to help me with my studies so my Dad is going to pay for that fortunately. He's getting it through a company benefit scheme that is a legitimate tax work around that can save up to 50% off the price. While the range of laptops available is hardly extensive, the one I'm getting is ideal. That and the PDA should make for some good fun warwalking/wifi hacking especially in London :D
Which reminds me, I really need to start learning to drive. Only problem is there isn't really time to learn from scratch doing both tests when the waiting list for both tests probably amounts to about 2 months, when I've only got three months before I go away to Uni. Therefore I'm going to see if I can get on a course where they teach you everything in a highly concentrated week and then you can take a test at the end and pass it and be fully qualified. To be honest, I'm not even entirely sure if they still do these courses or even if they ever did do them, but it'll be worth seeing if it is available. I don't want to still not be able to drive when I'm 30 :p
Anyway, I think I've said enough for now. I've got to get some sleep as I'm off to my mateĀ?s house for a party for the people I work with which knowing them will be mad. On the subject of work, it's really boring at the moment. The only reason I stay there is because the people I work with are really cool. The work sucks, and the managers completely lack management skills. I did think about giving it up and getting a proper job for the remaining time I am here but I decided against it because of he additional hassle involved. I can live with it for a few months, especially as it's only a part time job, and about two minutes job from my house. That said, I've also got a week's holiday from work this coming week, so I don't have to go there for a good while luckily :)
Edit: If anyone actually got to the end, I apologise for boring you ;)
Firstly, happy birthday Rel and Crisp. Hope you have a great day you two :)
This is my last day of teaching at college as such, and my first exam is this Friday. Then two weeks after my first exam it'll all be over, but for those two weeks I've got pretty much back to back exams with up to four hours on some days. It'll be great when it's all over, but for now I've booked a couple of weeks off from work, so I can really try and revise and actually get some earlier nights. In other news I'm going paintballing this Saturday, and it's going to absolutely rock :D
I've just been thinking about all the things I'm going to do this summer, when I have no commitments. I've just got so many books to read, films to watch, projects to start/complete, and various other things that I've been wanting to do for a while. Anyway, got to get back to my last lesson; hopefully it won't last too long...
Wow, I finally got my new (second hand) roller blades today, from eBay. They're meant to be roller hockey skates so they are ideal for fast speeds and excellent for sharp turns. They are absolutely brilliant, although so far after only one day I got a bit enthusiastic and skated backwards, fast and hit a car I didn't even know was there. I had just built up momentum and then BAM all of a sudden I was on there floor sitting against a small blue Micra. Fortunately no damage was done to the car :)
Here's a lovely picture of them;
I got them for a bargain price as well, what with it being eBay. Superb :)
Well it's the FA Cup Final this weekend, and everyone seems consigned to the fact that Man Utd. will win, and that it'll take some magic from Milwall to beat them, but it'll make for good viewing nonethless.
This weekend I've also got another run but mainly I'm going to really start getting some serious revision done. Like Crisp my first exam is on the 11th and the week after that it's pretty much solid exams for two weeks and then it's all over and I'll be free until October, so it's worth putting in a lot of effort now, and then enjoy myself when it's all over.
I've only got one more week of college left even though everywhere else around the country seems to have finished already. Luckily though, it's a much easier week with my maths course finished for now, and a few lessons cancelled because the teachers need to invidulate on some days, so I'll hopefully be able to fit in some revision throughout the week also :)
On a side note, I got a new mouse (computer, not animal) and it's qwality.
Well, it seems like it's all about forms at the moment. I received the Imperial accomodation forms recently and also another financial form from them as well, and coupled with the humungous finance forms that need to be filled in to obtain funding from the LEA for University it's seems like I'm slightly overwheled with forms atm.
Just looking at the accomodation forms showed just how expensive living in London is actually going to be. It'll be worth it though, I reckon even with the debts I'll have at the end of it.
I got paid a few days ago so I've been spending again and got some good stuff including some nice Bauer Roller Hockey skates. I can't wait for them to arrive :)
I'm really looking forward to this Sunday as well. It's got potential to be an amazing day..
Well, I got the project done and handed in on time which is a great relief. Now I can concentrate solely on revising and preparing for the exams. I've got my hours halved at work to 8 a week, which will be a nice break and give me some more time to get things done. I've got a nice 10 mile race to look forward to tomorrow, so all is well again :)
Got another important deadline tomorrow, so it's an all nighter tonght to get it finished hopefully. Luckily though I will be able to concentrate solely on revision once this is done :)
It's all been rather busy for me lately with a lot of important things happening, including making Uni choice, getting my computing project completed, couple of big essays, to name but a few and with the thought of impending exams on the horizon that I really should start revising for, very soon. I've bought a few exam success books of amazon which I'm hoping will prove to be useful and help me out. I've never been particulary good at 'exam technique' and always relied on just remebering everythiong and getting down everything I thought was relevant but I've jus got so many exams this summer that it really isn't a feasible solution. Hopefully the books will guide me on the right track to more success :)
I've got a nice long weekend planned with a run tomorrow and a visit to somewhere Sunday for my little brother's birthday and then football on Monday. Hopefully I'll be able to fit all the work in around that, but most likely not :p
Well it's the computing project deadline tomorrow so inevitably I'm going to have to stay up all night and try to get the majority of it done and finished. Although, I've got to go to work for three hours beforehand and I'm already tired through lack of sleep from last night. Oh well, at least it'll all be over soon.
And I'm going to travel a long way to my local football team's last (minus play-offs) game of the season on Saturday morning which is going to be quality fun.
Anyway just filling in a few minutes before I leave for work :)
