tech: Just. Looks. Cool.

Sat Mar 15th 14:57:25 2008 *

I'm interested in Robotics and it's what I would have being doing at school if I wasn't doing Computing. I read a lot of sites on robotics and every now and again their are some stuff that you just find cool. And a little freaky. Like this first video here.

That's pretty damn cool. It's so smooth in it's movements but everytime I watch the video i'm reminded of the replicators from star gate.

Another cool hexapod worth looking at.

Lastly, a new snake bot. I'm sure after watching this video you wont need to ask what kind of uses a robotic snake has.

I don't think we have this option at blogotomy yet, at least I can't find it anyway.

The ability to view certain categories without posts from other categories would be nice. Like the filters in gmail.

MobileSoftware

Sat Mar 8th 22:05:24 2008 *

I've been trying for awhile now to get shozu and twitter to work on my phone, the Samsung G800 which is supported. With shozu I just simply can't activate my account. I keep getting the error "Network Unavailable" even though the network is available. Not only is my phone supported but shozu comes pre-loaded on my phone for "ease of use".

I don't know what's wrong with twitter. Lack of documentation doesn't help either. I signed up for an account www.twitter.com/hackmo and I signed up for the phone service but i'm stumped now. I text them the code they said to send them and then they replied asking me my name. I told them my name, Sean. To which I got no reply. So I chose to take the "delete and start again option" and again I text them the code they gave me but this time they did not reply. Ten minutes later and still no reply.

So the last hour hasn't been very productive for me. I wasted two texts on my phone and I think I got charged for the text that twitter sent me. I also have an account on shozu with is redundant.

I'll have another go tomorrow when it's not 5 am.

tech: Dreambase

Wed Feb 6th 16:28:21 2008 *

I've decided to call my dream database project, Dreambase. For now anyway i'll probably change it eventually once it goes public. I set up punbb1.3 beta as the fourm. The only reason i'm posting it for now is because I want to build up a database of dreams before I make the site public so the site isn't too bare for first time visitors.

the main site is here. If anyone wants to check it out. Obviously it's a work in progress but feel free to have a look at offer some suggestions. My creative brain is a bit retarded so I need all the help I can get.

Database error on blogotomoy

Sun Jan 6th 09:39:16 2008 *

I'm having a hangover day so I decided to spice up my blog a little, the first thing I wanted to do was change that god awful colour scheme I have for my sidebar but everytime I try to submit the changes I made I get a "database error" displayed underneath the submit button and it just reverts back to the default colour scheme.

Anyone else having this problem?

EDIT: It looks like I can still add content though, it's just the style I can't change.

life: New Years 2008

Fri Jan 4th 20:57:58 2008 *

Happy new year blogotomy users. Hope you celebrated it well. I know I did.

On boxing day, the day after Christmas for any of you who don't know what it is. A girl phoned me saying that she broke up with her boyfriend and that they had booked a holiday to madrid for a couple of days and then were supposed to be going to her house in caberllino(sp?) to celebrate new year. Best of all he had already payed for it. Flights, hotel - everything - was already paid for. Apart from the fact that I didn't have a passport and we were too be leaving in two days I didn't see why I shouldn't go.

Ended up getting the fast track passport service which cost a little extra but turned out to be worth it.

The trip to Madrid was pretty good, the plain journey went pretty smooth and we got a taxi pretty easily - even though the fucking dick ripped us off about ten euros - We found our hotel and went to get booked in. Turned out her mum had booked the room for the wrong day of the wrong month, of the wrong year... So we waited while the receptionist guy checked if there was another room available and too our luck there was. When we found the room which at first we mistook for a utility closet we ditched our bags, took some money and then headed out to check out the local night life. Apparently it's awesome. I can't remember much of it other than getting attacked by a fat naked prostitute who stole a phone out of my pocket with one hand while having a pretty tight hold of my dick with her other - an extremely valuable talent in her profession I suppose.

We met a bunch of people who turned out to be pretty fun. Four Americans, two of whom had diplomatic immunity and one which was robbed by a skinny 17 year old who he then caught and "screamed like a bitch" until the police came "tips hat to douglas". A person from Peru who lived in Miami and his friend whos name I didn't bother to learn. Both good guys. One of the girls from America with the diplomatic immunity turned out to be pretty cool. We spent awhile talking and she wanted to keep in touch - I just remembered that I have no idea where I put her contact info though so hopefully she contacts me some time soon.

We partied with them for two nights and it went pretty fast. A broken heart, a missed oppertunity and a broken table later we missed our train for carbellino. We were chasing the train for awhile but eventually got to the end of the line and we needed to catch the next one which was 7 hours later. The only seats were first class which just happened to be on her parents as was everything else on the holiday for me, no idea how I got so lucky. So we spent the best part of 7 hours(6 hours and 25 minutes to be exact) sitting on the floor and metal seats amusing ourself with cards and jokes when we realised that the first class tickets we had entitled us entry into the first class VIP lounge... A room where we could be warm, entertained, comfy, fed drink and all for free. So we got a good 15 minutes in there before we needed to go catch the train. A bastard when you think about it but i'm glad it went the way it did because I enjoyed the time we spent just talking and laughing, rather than sleeping in silence in the VIP room.

After the 7 hour train journey where we had a pretty good tim...meh i'm tired and I need to get up early tomorrow. Over all it was a pretty good time and I can say it was a good end to 2007 and a good start to 2008. Hope you guys can say the same.

random: Oh my god.

Tue Nov 20th 20:00:53 2007 *

My last post here was over a year ago, and it was on how much I thought jellyfish were cool. Wtf.

Looking back at my previous blogs was a definitely a weird nostalgia trip for me. About getting my first job, going on my first holiday and the feelings I had about leaving school. Well i've been on two other holidays since then and have another one coming up next year, i'm still working in the same place...I suppose it's coming up for just after two years now?! according to the date of my blog post anyway and I left school last year and i'm currently in college doing an NQ in Computing and Information technology.

The course is pretty basic for now, it's pretty much near the bottom of the "academic ladder" if you will. I didn't do as well as I should have in school(too much partying and day dreaming I guess) so that's what I get. Once I have finished this course i'm going to go onto an advanced course and then hopefully progress to uni and do a degree in ethical hacking. Here's a link to the course if anyone is interested: http://www.abertay.ac.uk/Courses/CDetails.cfm?CID=363&Key=003.001

I think I remember posting before about family trouble, living with my junky uncle in my nan and grandads place etc...incase any of you are wondering what the outcome of all that was, well there was a lot more trouble and it ended up with me and my grandad moving out of the house(including him splitting up with my nan) and us living with my mum - and have been doing so for the last 8 months - we've got a place of our own just around the corner from where I am now. We've been doing it up(decorating/fixing) for the last month or so and it should be ready to move into sometime soon. Hopefully before Christmas.

Oh and I seen on one of the posts that I made in 2005 I talked about a site idea I had. An online database of dreams sort of thing. I can't believe I had that idea two years ago. That's pretty alarming since I just started work on it a few months ago, heh. I got a lot of interest in the site and people are still asking me for more info about it so if their are any wondering minds here i'll make a post about it later with all my ideas and the features that it will have etc. I'll also be asking for some help with dream logs as well if anyone feels up to it :). The site isn't up yet but i've got a lot of free time in college and i've managed to do a lot of work on it(that and one weekend a few weeks ago I decided to stay in and not go out getting drunk and clubbing so I had two solid days of nothing but working on the site) so hopefully it will be up within the next few months, no guarantees though since i'm sure you can work out from the original post date of the idea and me just starting it now - i'm a lazy bastard :) -

Well that's all I can be bothered typing for now, i'm heading to bed. Nice to see that blogotomy is still up though, who owns it now? rel is it still you?

Night.

ps. lol at my google ads.
