Twittering About Your Attempt at Getting Healthy

Mon May 5th 06:09:08 2008

I'm definitely a Twitter fan. I could do better about updates though. In an attempt to do just that, as well as make myself publicly accountable, I'm twittering my health regimen in a series of posts I'll preface with FitTwit. So what am I personally working on? Here's my current status and plan of attack.

Motivation(s): Getting healthy for me and for family. Qualify for better insurance. Whoop a co-worker at the weight loss challenge we're having.

Plan of attack:

Exercise: Not only the trips to the gym, and the morning jog on my treadmill. I'll update about other attempts to make myself be more active.

Diet: Nothing non-sensical. Mostly portion control and curbing the burger habit. Mixed in with this will be an attempt at curbing my lunch spending habits. It's just out of control to try and eat out everyday.

Study: I'm going to take a few minutes everyday to read about weightloss. My bro-in-law is a guru in this area, so conversations with VJ will also count towards study time. Maybe I'll try and get VJ to Twitter as well. He's a big Hood-to-Coast runner and could provide stellar running tips.

Spirit: Here's where the weirdness comes out... I'm going to do more meditation, breathing, Yoga type exercising as well. Years ago I was a gymnast and had fantastic flexibility. I'd like to become much more flexible than I am today.

That's about it. I like the idea of public accountability. Twitter is a great in the moment motivator. I'll want to Tweet about progress, and that will encourage me to step away from the machine a bit to earn the opportunity.

Feel free to do your own FitTwit-tering. I'm planning on setting up a global watch for FitTwit to find others to help motivate me. Please d msg me if you'd like to join a motivation club centered around FitTwit.
